When Saturn Ruled The World

A fantasy interpretation of when Saturn sat in our Celestial Pole circle c. 9600BC-9200BC and the effect it may have had on the Earth at the time. I get into researching electrical plasma effects from this event, I know, who’d guess..? It’s rather an interesting science because there is now new scientific evidence that Saturn’s magnetic plasma Aurora’s are extremely electric and NASA’s Cassini has just photographed Saturn’s Poles again and noticed a huge hexagonal Aurora, it holds mega amounts of electrical plasma.

Lightening is plasma charges and Zeus was very powerful. Myth is full of references to the power of the Earth and Heavens and after delving into this subject it’s interesting that Saturn sat at the top of the world at the time of the big melt 12,000 years ago. From this event man changed, beasts disappeared and memories of a time of creation arose, of a new world, when Gods created Gods and the Gods created man.

Saturn is also known as Cronus, father of the Greek Olympian Gods, the ancient God of fertility and the measure of time, when seasons were created and he was the most important God in the sky until the Clash of the Titans, bought down by his sons, Zeus, Poseidon and Hades as they took his place of power.

The Romans still saw Saturn as all important and celebrated Saturnalia, a celebration that lasted a week where during this time masters would become the slaves and the slave became the master, if just for a short time. Celebrating a time when a huge glowing ball was unmoved for over 400 years at the Pole, when the Earth flooded and divided, new lands and primordial mounds emerged from the water, men migrated around the world and animals had a new place in the circle of life.

Raven Madd about Ravenshoe!

Ever been to Ravenshoe? And no, that's not Raven Shoe, it's Ravens-hoe, bet you said Raven Shoe didn't you?? You're not the only one!

Ravenshoe is a warm, friendly, highland town up on the Atherton Tablelands, about 2 hours from Cairns and a wonderful place to visit and live. Without the muggy heat of the coast, Ravenshoe has been a hideaway for lots of people for many years and now it is being discovered, making it an ideal place to retire or just move away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Surrounded by tropical rainforest on one side and the gateway to the Savannah taking you over to the Gulf on the other, it offers many opportunities to see some great sights:

Check out the superb waterfalls, Little Millstream Falls is close to town and very pretty, with a walking track right up to the drop while Millstream Falls itself is Australia's widest waterfall, a spectacular sight in the wet.

See the wildlife and what a treat that is, possums galore and rare tree kangaroos live in the canopies while many unique birdlife and marsupials only found in this area inhabit the forests.

Visit the town centre and have lunch at the Cottage Cafe, filled with artworks for sale, have a coffee and lunch while there, dinner at the pubs is always value for money and lots of great shopping can be found, gifts in the Chemist have an Asian feel and just walking in makes you feel good.

Ride the Millstream Express, a restored steam train that is lovingly cared for by volunteers, making sure passengers enjoy their 30 minute trip out to Tumoulin, where scones and tea await you on a tea break stop, back to Ravenshoe for a round trip and lots of fun for the kids too!

Koombaloomba Dam offers everyone the chance to go boating or fishing, camping, swimming or just bush walking, drive down Tully Falls Road and don't forget to stop at Tully Gorge Lookout, checking out the spectacular drop to the gorge while having a lunchtime BBQ is well worth the while.

So much more can be found in the small town of Ravenshoe, with a Visitor's Centre that offers helpful advice, great accomodation from B & B's, the Kool Moon Motel and the local hotels, camping or farm-stay, we have it all up here so pack your bags, jump in the car and take a drive, up to the unique little town of Ravenshoe, that's Ravens-hoe - not Raven Shoe...just so you know.

Hello everyone reading this new entry - I was really pleased to have sold a shirt on Zazzle this week, in fact, this is the 2nd T-shirt that I've sold on the Zazzle website!!

I love creating works for sale on Zazzle nearly as much as Red Bubble and must do some more very soon, with so many creations on there selling 2 shirts is a bonus!

I'll Bee Back - The Importance Of The Bee

Albert Einstein is quoted as saying “if the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years of life left”...Pretty scary stuff considering the numbers of bees particularly native ones are reducing in numbers each year. How can the humble bee be so important in our lives that our existance relies on it?
Pollination. If bees don’t pollinate the flowers, or the many vegetables or most importantly the fruit trees it means famine world wide. In todays 21st century world of genetically altered pre-processed foods this might not seem so important but on a whole, it is a real catastrophe waiting to happen.
Bees have been worshipped throughout history and we have forgotten the importance she had, the Bee Goddess can be found back as far as Sumeria and the Egyptians worshipped Neith. On Crete there is ancient Bronze Age writings that translate to Mistress of the Honey and her role as a virgin Queen Bee Goddess was of great importance.
The myths and legends interact with these honey mistresses and the importance of honey to the Gods was utmost. They drank a form of sweet honey wine called ambrosia to stay immortal and ancient Egyptians used honey in the embalming process. Honey was used in many healing lotions and mead and other drinks were honey based. Pan, the God from Arcadia, of the shepherds was a beekeeper and kept watch over the nature of the fields.
The ancient Gods held the secrets of the honey and the important aspects of it’s existance, reverring it’s benefits and holding it sacred, the Goddesses, the virginal Queen Bees who tirelessly worked for her colony with no reward for herself, just to keep her colony going and her workers who tended her every need, keeping the colony alive with thier tenacity and ability to work together as one. Mating was done if required since the act meant instant death for the male. Death also came at a cost for the bee if he felt the need to sting.
The attributes of the bee and it’s resourcefulness overlaps into these ancient myths and stories of sweet honey, a gift from the Gods. Let’s not forget the humble bee and it’s abilities to provide us with the essentials to survive, nature, the abundance that nature has to offer, the cornucopia of life, the sweet oranges and juicy apples, the flowers that grow wild, lovingly provided for us by that insect that we often scorn for fear of being stung, when in fact, he has way more to lose…

The rain is here in Far Nth Queensland and the fungi are up. I love fungi and mushrooms, not eating them but photographing them, there is so many varieties in so many colours. I have a great Calendar available for sale filled with fungilicious fungi! A fab present for that hard to buy for person or just for anyone with an appreciation of the world of nature...

Who would have thought laser lights and smoke could make such great art??
I took these shots at night of some DJ laser beams, lighting and a smoke machine at a party. These were taken on Fireworks mode to really capture the colours in the darkness. Digging The Gemfields of Central Queensland

Deep in the heart of Queensland lies the Central Queensland Gemfields, places like Sapphire, Rubyvale and Emerald dot the Capricorn Highway as you drive inland. Pack your pick and shovel and head out for a Gem Fest! Red Bubble artist rain-dogs took this great photo of the Tropic Of Capricorn sign while off to dig for sapphires but maybe he found amethyst instead by the looks of those precious pieces of quartz! You can buy some great photos of gems from rain-dogs, check out Red Bubble and look him up. The Central Queensland Gemfields, what a great place to visit, take the kids, dig for some gems and see an amazing, rugged part of Australia that might definitely be 'worth your while' seeing!
